24,000 public toilets to be built on highways in Kerala
19-February-2020
The local bodies in Kerala have been asked to locate three cents of land on state highways and national highways so as to construct 12,000 pairs of toilets for men and women, by the state cabinet at its weekly meeting held here on Wednesday.
The office of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has asked all those interested to partner the state government to accomplish this much needed facility, which will benefit all, especially those who are on the move.
"The local bodies will have to build and operate this facilitation centre which will also have a small shop that will sell essential items. This is being chalked out as at present there are very few wayside facilities and which are not open to all and hence this scheme is being worked out," said the office of Vijayan.-IANS
