Two people have been arrested in the capital for supplying fake currency notes, police said on Tuesday.

Subodh Kumar, 34, and Dinesh Kumar, 32, both residents of Bihar, were arrested on Saturday from Sector-3 in Pushp Vihar area of south Delhi.

Police said they recovered a consignment of fake Indian currency notes having a face value of Rs.20,000 from their possession.

Dinesh told police he came to Delhi 10 years back in search of employment.

"He was working as an egg seller on IGNOU Road for the last four years. About six months back, he came in contact with Subodh who used to buy eggs from him and joined him in supplying fake currency notes," Deputy Commissioner of Police Prem Nath said.

Subodh, who came to Delhi about 20 years back, used to work with his elder brother at a grocery shop in Khirki Extension in south Delhi.

"He came in contact with Gyan Chand about a year back. Gyan used to supply fake Indian currency notes from West Bengal to Delhi," the official said.

Police said Gyan has already been arrested. He used to supply fake currency notes with a face value of Rs.1 lakh in exchange for Rs.25,000 in genuine notes.

Both Subodh and Dinesh have been sent to judicial custody, the official said. - IANS
