If unable to perform, finance minister should resign: AAP
24-August-2015
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley should resign as he was unable to control the currency dip, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Ashutosh said on Monday.
"Dollar has crossed the Rs.66 mark. If Arun Jaitley is not able to perform, then he should quit and hand over the responsibility to a more capable person," he said at a press conference.
He also slammed the central government, saying the economy was badly hit under the Narendra Modi-led government while he had earlier promised he would improve it.
"During the (Lok Sabha) polls, the prime minister had attacked the then government for the rupee's downfall, but now that he is in power for the past 15 months, the currency downfall continues," the AAP leader said.
"The stock market crashed by 1,000 points today (Monday) and this is a serious issue. The PM had promised many second-generation reforms, but there is no change in the policy that can help give a boost to the economy," he said.
The rupee hit a fresh two-year low of 66.47 to a dollar as the stock market took a tumble on Monday. - IANS
