At least one personnel of the Special Task Force was killed and another seriously injured in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region on Saturday, police said.
According to police sources, the Maoists were waiting in ambush when two battalions of the STF left for the Jheeram valley. They had blocked the road by felling a tree.
As the STF personnel got down from their vehicles to move the tree, the Maoists opened fire on them, hitting the team's platoon commander Krishan Pal Singh in the head and injuring another personnel Santosh Singh. The STF personnel also fired back and wounded many of the about 100 Maoists involved in the attack. - IANS
