Broadband, high-speed Internet to remain suspended in Kashmir

The suspension of broadband and high speed mobile Internet will continue in the Kashmir region, a government notification said on Friday.
The order stated upon reassessment of the restrictions on mobile data services with regard to the impact on the overall security situation and after due consideration of reports of the law enforcement agencies, the authorities found it was "absolutely necessary" to continue the suspensions.
It said the restrictions would continue "in the interest of the security of the state and for maintaining public order".
The notification also mentioned that several terrorist attacks in the recent past depended on Internet usage.
"The restrictions contained in the government order dated January 31 shall continue to remain operative till February 15 unless modified earlier," it said.
The order said that white-listed sites will be updated.-IANS
