'Very poor' air in Delhi-NCR, as winter refuses to go away
05-February-2020
Cold conditions continue to persist in the Delhi NCR with the minimum temperature recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal, said the Met Department.
The India Meteorological Department also forecast: "Dense fog likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi." At least 10 Delhi-bound trains were late due to poor visibility.
According to Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the air quality fell in 'very poor' category with overall air quality index at 324 and PM10 at 278 and PM2.5 at 151.
"Calm wind condition is likely to prevail in the morning and is likely to lead to further deterioration of the Air Quality. Significant increase in surface winds are forecasted in the afternoon.
"SAFAR model suggests an improvement in AQI to the lower end of the poor category by late evening," SAFAR said.
SAFAR also advised people to avoid all physical activities outdoor.IANS
