Central team reviews bird flu situation in Odisha

A three-member central team here on Thursday met the state officials and assessed the bird flu situation. They also reviewed the steps taken by the state government to prevent the spread of bird flu.
The team visited the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), where bird flu case was detected on Monday. The state government has started culling poultry within 1 km radius of the OUAT and regular daily cheakups are being done in 3 km radius.
"All the activities are being carried out as per the protocol. Everything is under control. There is nothing to be panic," said Debashish Bhattacharya, a member of the central team.
Health Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal said the department had been conducting checkups as per the protocol in the bird flu affected areas.
The team will stay in Odisha for 10 days.ians
