Three chief ministers of northeastern states -- Assam, Tripura and Manipur -- along with MPs and top leaders of the BJP would campaign for the saffron party candidates contesting the February 8 assembly polls in Delhi, party sources said on Thursday.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sources in Agartala and Guwahati said that Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and his Manipur counterpart N. Biren Singh would soon join the election campaign in the national capital.
"Besides the Chief Ministers, many MPs from the northeast and senior BJP leaders would take part in the Delhi election campaign to seek votes for the party candidates," the sources added.
The Tripura Chief Minister would undertake his campaign in Delhi from February 3-5.
There are thousands of voters from the northeast in Delhi.
The election for the 70-member Delhi Assembly is scheduled to be held on February 8 while the counting of votes will take place on February 11.IANS
