NRI Thampi bailed out by Delhi court
29-January-2020
A special CBI court here on Wednesday granted bail to NRI businessman C.C. Thampi, who had been arrested in connection with a money laundering probe against businessman Robert Vadra.
Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar directed Thampi to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 5 lakh and two sureties of the like amount.
On Tuesday, the court had remanded Thampi to judicial custody till February 7. Refusing to extend Thampi's Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody, the court had reserved orders on the businessman's bail plea for Wednesday.
Thampi was arrested by the ED this month after it was allegedly found that arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari along with co-conspirators -- Vadra and Thampi -- had evolved a money laundering scheme by transferring the proceeds of crime several times from one individual to another and also to make the money trail's investigation difficult.IANS
