Modi, others pay tribute to Lala Lajpat Rai on birth anniv

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders across the country, on Tuesday, paid tributes to the great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai on his 155th birth anniversary.
Saluting the freedom fighter, Modi tweeted, "Salute to the brave son of mother India, Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary. His saga of sacrificing his life for the independence of the country will always inspire the countrymen"
The official page of the Vice President of India, stated: "Shri Lala Lajpat Rai's remarkable and heroic role during the Vandemataram movement and Simon go-back agitation and his patriotism will continue to inspire every Indian. #lalalajpatrai"
Taking to Twitter, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote, "I bow to great freedom fighter and a true nationalist, Lala Lajpat Rai on his jayanti. The nation pays heartfelt tributes to Lalaji, an exceptional leader and mentor, for his immense contribution to India's freedom struggle."
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "Tributes to one of the most prominent leaders of our freedom movement, Punjab Kesari, #LalaLajpatRai on his birth anniversary. His life and sacrifices for our independence would always be an inspiration."
"Maharashtra remembering the noted freedom fighter, Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on his 155th birth anniversary! His patriotism & visionary leadership inspires us even today," wrote Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar.
