Criminal killed in encounter, constable injured in UP

The Meerut police, on Sunday, gunned down a dreaded criminal who carried a reward of Rs 1.5 lakh on his head.

IG Police Praveen Kumar said that police head constable Manoj Dixit was also injured in the encounter.

The official said that the criminal Kale was killed in police encounter while his accomplice managed to escape.

SSP Ajay Sahni had a narrow escape because he was wearing a bullet proof jacket during the encounter which took place in T P Nagar area of Meerut.

The body of the criminal has been sent for post-mortem and the police have recovered one carbine, one double barrel gun and a large number of cartridges from his possession.-IANS
