Priyanka's swipe: Shah challenging those who don't venture out
22-January-2020
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday took a swipe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and former Chief Ministers Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav, saying the BJP leader is throwing a challenge on the CAA-NRC issue to "those who did not come out of their houses".
Priyanka Gandhi, on a two-day visit to Rae Bareli along with her mother and party interim chief Sonia Gandhi, used the opening lines of a famous Bollywood song to target the three leaders.
In a tweet, she said: "Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Yeh, Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam (It's a strange story, don't know where it started and where it ended)."
"Shah challenged those (Mayawati and Yadav) who have not come out of their homes to protest (in Uttar Pradesh). Those who are supposed to challenge the Home Minister are raising the issues of other states. The aware public of Uttar Pradesh understands everything," the Congress leader added.
She was apparently taking a dig at the chiefs of the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party for not participating in protests across Uttar Pradesh over the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens.
Addressing a rally in Lucknow on Tuesday, Shah had said: "Let it be very loud and clear to our opponents that the new citizenship law won't be rolled back at any cost, irrespective of the protests."IANS
