Compensation announced for Baltal cloudburst victims

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra on Saturday announced compensation of Rs.3 lakh each to next of kin of three people at the Amarnath base camp at Baltal killed in a cloudburst in the area.

Vohra, who is also the chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), also reviewed the situation at the Baltal base camp at a meeting at the Raj Bhavan here.

The dead included two minor children from Rajasthan and a pilgrim from Delhi, while 11 people were injured. - IANS
