Mahila Congress activists protest, demand Sushma's resignation
21-July-2015
Activists of the All India Mahila Congress on Tuesday held a demonstration here to demand the resignations of union minister Sushma Swaraj and BJP chief ministers Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan for alleged impropriety and corruption.
Women protesters at the 'Aakrosh Rally' organised at the Jantar Mantar in the national capital raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and blamed him for not taking action against his ministers.
They also raised slogans against the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, Lalit Modi, corruption, women safety and inflation.
The protest site was covered with posters and banners ridiculing Modi and his ministers.
The agitators later tried to march to parliament to register their protest but were stopped at a police barricade nearby.
The protesters were demanding the resignations of Sushma Swaraj and Raje in connection with the controversy surrounding former IPL chairman Lalit Modi - facing an Enforcement Directorate probe - and Chouhan for the Vyapam scam.
"Before the general elections in 2014, (Narendra) Modiji made a number of promises on fighting corruption, controlling inflation, zero tolerance against atrocities on women. But now, there is a U-turn on all these issues," All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza said.
"We demand the resignation of all BJP leaders involved in cases of corruption and impropriety," she added. - IANS
