Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to fight corruption, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused him of shielding Chief Ministers Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan and Shivraj Singh Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh.
Reminding Modi of his election pledge "na khaoonga, na khane doonga" (Will neither indulge in corruption nor permit corruption), Gandhi said: "Why is the prime minister backing leaders in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh?
"Why is the PM allowing corruption in Rajasthan? When is he bringing back Lalit Modi?" Gandhi asked, referring to the former IPL chief who has been accused of financial impropriety and is outside the country.
Following a meeting of the Congress women's wing here, Gandhi reiterated the Congress demand for Chouhan's resignation over the recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh. - IANS
