Twitter abuzz as mobile internet restored in Kargil
27-December-2019
As mobile internet service was restored in Kargil in the Union Territory of Ladakh, Twitter users welcomed the development.
#MobileInternet got 5,315 tweets and #Kargil 4,320 tweets.
Internet was shut in Kargil on August 5, the day Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was abrogated in Jammu & Kashmir.
Among those who commented, with a tinge of sarcasm, on the restoration of the service was Congress general secretary and former Union minister Mukul Wasnik.
He wrote on @MukulWasnik: "Let's congratulate the Prime Minister and Home Minister. Mobile Internet is back after 145 days in Kargil. Is this not a great achievement?"
One user commented: "Could Jammu be next? (Move gives a lot of hope in Jammu as well)
A post read: "In memory of Pervez Musharraf who lost Kargil."
A user remarked: "After five months internet service is restored in Kargil district of UT Ladakh. Congratulations to my hometown in this new era of Indian democracy...."
"Some good news from Kargil," wrote another user.
A user tweeted: "Hey people out there in #Kargil, enjoy the net. But, maintain peace, nothing more important than innocent lives. Expect the same in #Kashmir in the coming days."IANS
