Two Indian Army personnel were killed and seven others injured on Thursday, while carrying out a bridging exercise at the College of Military Engineering (CME) at Dapodi in Pune.
"Two combat engineers lost their lives during a training session while carrying out a bridging exercise," a senior Indian Army officer said.
The officers said seven armymen, including a junior commissioned officer, were also injured during the exercise.
The incident took place at 11:45 a.m.
"A total of nine combat engineers were building a Bailey suspension bridge, and while doing so one of the bridge towers collapsed," said the officer, adding that all the nine soldiers came under the bridge, while two of them succumbed to their injuries.
