Congress appoints 30 new city chiefs in Uttar Pradesh

In an effort to galvanise the party in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party has appointed 43 officials, including 30 new city presidents and 13 district chiefs in the state.
According to an official statement by party General Secretary, Organisation, K.C. Venugopal, the Congress President has approved appointments of new district and city chiefs with immediate effect.
This time the party has appointed presidents of big cities which include Allahabad, Lucknow, Moradabad and Ghaziabad.
Congress leaders and the Gandhi siblings -- Rahul and Priyanka -- were stopped on the Meerut bypass road on Tuesday when they were on their way to meet the kin of victims of the alleged police firing during the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA)-National Register of Citizens (NRC) protests last week.
The Yogi Adityanath administration stated that Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed in parts of the state in view of sporadic violent incidents that took place during the anti-CAA demonstrations that has reesulted in 15 deaths so far.IANS
