Gurgaon to have special cell for ATM frauds
22-June-2015
With complaints of ATM frauds in Gurgaon so far this year already outstripping the total cases of last year, a special cell to tackle the menace is being set up, a police officer said on Monday.
The 'ATM frauds investigation cell' will be headed by specially-trained Haryana Police inspector and will report to the deputy commissioner of police (crime).
"The nine member team have been finalised and but chief is yet to be named," a senior police officer told IANS.
Last year, over 400 complaints of ATM frauds were received and around 500 complaints have already been received this year, according to police.
Criminals use a number of ingenious ways including the 'matchstick trick', 'skimmer trick', 'shoulder surfing trick', and other underhand methods to obtain cash fraudulently from the cash dispensing machines. - IANS
