Don't politicise CAB: BJP's Bhupender Yadav
11-December-2019
Urging the opposition to stop creating an environment to divide the country, BJP leader Bhupender Yadav on Wednesday alleged when the Congress was in power for 10 years it did nothing for the persecuted people.
"This Citizenship Amendment Bill was discussed during UPA and NDA governments. UPA ignored it and NDA took up the issue and is ensuring that immigrants should be brought treated with equality," Yadav said.
He said this government is doing a task which would have been happened decades ago.
"Now, we are doing so. It is a great move," Yadav said.
Yadav further pointed out that Union Home Minister has discussed with all stakeholders before bring this Bill. "Regularisation of people who fled their countries and came to India needs to be done. We are also concerned about interest of people of North East, people of Assam," he said.
The BJP member said, "Every government across the world is streamlining the issue of migrants and you are saying not to do. When you were in power you never acted to regularise the migrants who have been looking to you."
He also stated that the country needs political will. "The political will can change the world and resolve any issue. Only political will can make things happen."
He said India's three neighbouring countries have declared themselves as Islamic republics and minorities there are persecuted and someone needs to act.
"I would ask Congress to stop politicisation of the issue. You need to see who all are facing problems and being targeted in these neighbouring countries," said Yadav.
He urged all members of the Rajya Sabha to support the Bill.IANS
