09-December-2019
Senior IPS officer Abhay assumed charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha police force on Monday.
Abhay, a 1986 batch IPS officer, took charge from the DGP In-charge Satyajit Mohanty at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.
Prior to his posting, he served as the Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
After he assumed the DGP charge, Abhay listed several priorities to serve the people.
He said even though the Naxal situation has improved significantly over the past five years in the state, the police will work towards containing and controlling this menace.
He also listed that organised crime will be monitored while the overall investigation standard would be increased so that the conviction percentage improves.
The Odisha government had on November 20 appointed Abhay as DGP.
