A Railway Police Force (RPF) constable's prompt response helped save the life of a man who was moments away from being run over by a passenger train at Thane railway station near Mumbai.

The CCTV footage of the entire incident, which was shared on Twitter by the Central Railway, has gone viral.

Central Railway posted the video with the caption: "RPF staff Anil Kumar saved one passenger from being run over at Thane, who was crossing the track from one platform to another platform on 3.12.2019."

Praising the RPF staff, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal retweeted the post and wrote, "Courageous work by RPF Constable Anil Kumar, who promptly jumped to the rescue of a commuter crossing the rail tracks to save him from an oncoming train in Mumbai. It is strongly advised to use overbridges to avoid such incidents which may be fatal."

The 40-second clip has been viewed over 52.2K times since being posted. People on Twitter took to the comments section to shower praises on the RPF staff for his quick thinking.

A tweeple wrote, "Good Job. We appreciate the work of RPF staff. Thank you".

"This is humanity... We should continue this... Ultimately one day it saves ourselves... This RPF personnel saves the humanity. Now it's for all to continue," added another.

Another post read, "Smart presence of mind Or Sixth sense."

A user remarked, "@RailMinIndia this is also an act of selflessness and devotion to duty, please honour the constable and please mention his good work at the platform notice board which could motivate few people."

Earlier in October, another RPF staff was hailed as a hero after he saved a passenger from falling off a moving train.IANS
