Twitter users on Wednesday posted congratulatory messages on the occasion of Indian Navy Day, recalling the valour of the seamen in defending the country's coastline.

The Navy spokesperson wrote on the official Twitter handle @indiannavy: "Karachi was attacked again on December 7-8, 1971, this time from the West. #INSVinash fired four missiles which damaged MV Gulf Star, MV Harmatton & PN Tanker Dacca & left Kiamari oil fields ablaze."
"In remembrance of these valiant actions, December 4 was declared the Indian Navy Day."
