Angry responses over Christian prayer on TTD website
02-December-2019
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has come in for criticism from various quarters over the popping up of Christian prayers on a link to its official website.
The issue came to light after the Devasthanam, which manages various temples in Tirumala, Tirupati and Tiruchanoor, released a 12-sheet calendar and a diary for the coming year on Friday.
In order to download the calendar, devotees looked for the PDF file of 'TTD calendar 2020' but instead found links in Internet search engine Google.
A link on top of the search incorporated a sentence in Telugu 'Sri Yesaiah. Sri Venkatesaya Namaha. Sri Vikarinama Samvat-sara. Siddan-tha Panchabdamu 2019-2020.'
After several angry response by Twitter users, the link to the TTD website was suspended and the page was refreshed later on by deleting 'Sri Yesaiah'.
TTD officials questioned its IT staff concerned if the issue was related to hacking. TTD chief vigilance and security officer Gopinath Jetti was quoted by a media report that a probe had been ordered into the incident.-IANS
