Kejriwal to launch special campaign for Delhi elections
25-November-2019
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national Convenor Arvind Kejriwal will on Tuesday launch a special campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in the national capital, the party announced on Monday.
AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai said Kejriwal will launch the campaign to mark the seventh anniversary of the party.
The AAP was formally launched on November 26, 2012.
"On Tuesday, the party will celebrate its journey from struggle to government formation. Arvind Kejriwal will launch a special election campaign during the celebrations," Rai tweeted in Hindi.
The AAP was formed after Arvind Kejriwal decided to jump into politics, even as he parted ways with veteran social activist Anna Hazare.
The two cxame together in the India Against Corruption movement, demanding a Jan Lokpal Bill. Hazare preferred that the movement remain politically unaligned, while Kejriwal felt the failure of the agitation route necessitated a direct political involvement.
In 2015, Kejriwal swept the Delhi Assembly polls with his party bagging 67 of the total 70 seats in the state legislature.IANS
