2 held with Rs 17 lakh cash in MP, hawala money suspected

Two persons have been arrested here by the Madhya Pradesh police with Rs 17 lakh cash, suspected to be hawala money, the police said.
According to in-charge of Hanumanganj police station, Mahendra Singh Thakur, police got a tip off on Saturday that two men on motorbike were moving with cash.
Two police teams were formed to nab the suspects. They followed the motorbike and caught Dharmendra Singh Chauhan and Dhawal Kumar Parmar with Rs 16,89,500 cash kept in a black colour bag. Both the accused are from Gujarat.
After they were brought to the police station, they revealed on interrogation that they had collected the money from the businessmen in Bhopal and were taking it to Mumbai.
The duo could not produce any documents for the cash and also failed to give any satisfactory answer to the police.
The police have informed the I-T department about the recovery of cash.
