18-November-2019
The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has asked the officials of 10 districts in the state to submit reports by November 20 on incidents of stubble burning in their districts.
According to a statement by the home department, the district magistrates and superintendents of police (SPs) of Mathura, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Maharajganj, Bareilly, Aligarh, Jalaun and Jhansi have been asked to submit their reports by November 20 on stubble burning.
The state government directives came in view of the stern stand taken by the Supreme Court which has summoned the chief secretaries of Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh on November 29.
On November 6, the apex court had asked UP, Haryana and Punjab governments to provide Rs 100 per quintal assistance within seven days to small and marginal farmers to help them from burning stubble to clear fields.
The four state governments will also have to file a compliance report in this regard by November 25.IANS
