Manmohan Singh nominated to Parliament panel on Finance

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been nominated to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance.
He was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha for a sixth term in August this year from Rajasthan.
According to a Rajya Sabha bulletin, the "Chairman has nominated Dr. Manmohan Singh, Member, Rajya Sabha, to the Committee on Finance in place of Shri Digvijaya Singh, w.e.f. 06.11.2019.
"The Chairman has also nominated Shri Digvijaya Singh, Member, Rajya Sabha to the Committee on Urban Development w.e.f. 06.11.2019," the bulletin said.
Manmohan Singh, who was also the Finance Minister during 1991-1996, was a member of the panel from September 2014 to May 2019 before his retirement from the Upper House in June this year.
The 31-member panel is headed by BJP MP and former Union Minister Jayant Sinha.
Digvijaya Singh is believed to have resigned from the parliamentary standing committee on finance to make way for Manmohan Singh.IANS
