Appoint govt nominees as directors in DMRC: Kailash Gahlot

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Monday wrote to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), urging it to decide on the city government nominees to its directorial board and also warned the body to abstain from taking decisions without having Delhi government's say on crucial issues, as it is a 50 per cent partner in DMRC.

In the letter, Gahlot asked the DMRC Managing Director to expedite the decision to appoint the government nominees to its board.

Speaking to the media, the minister said that the Delhi government had nominated three persons to the independent directorial board of DMRC on July 13.

"No decision has been taken so far even after four months. We came to know from the minutes of the DMRC board meeting held on September 26 that it was part of the agenda, but the decision was differed. Further, the board has taken many crucial decisions and passed the same without any representation from the Delhi government," Gahlot told the media.

The decisions taken in the meeting are illegal and voidable, he said.

"In DMRC, Delhi government holds 50 per cent share and equal share of the number of directors. Hence, DMRC should stop taking decisions without representation from the Delhi government," the minister said.

"Seeking legal opinion on government's recommendations without deciding in the board meeting is also illegal," Gahlot said.IANS
