The Goa Cricket Association on Thursday terminated the contract of its state Ranji team player CM Gautam, who was arrested earlier in the day in connection with a spot-fixing scandal in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL), secretary of the Association Vipul Phadke said.
Phadke also told IANS that the Association had informed the Board of Cricket Control of India about the decision to sack Gautam.
"We have terminated Gautam's contract. He was with us as a professional cricketer. There is no need to issue a show cause notice," Phadke said.
Gautam, who captains Karnataka Premier League side Bellary Tuskers along with Abrar Kazi of the Hubli Tigers have been accused of accepting money to spot-fix a KPL game.
"We have already written to the BCCI about our Association's decision to sack Gautam," Phadke also said.IANS
