Sharif leaves hospital after daughter Maryam's release
06-November-2019
Hours after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz was released on bail on Wednesday, her father and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was discharged from the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) in Lahore.
Sharif was actually discharged on Tuesday but he refused to be shifted to his house in Raiwind because Maryam had not been released from the prison despite the submission of surety bonds and passport to the court, Pakistani media reported.
On Wednesday, the PML-N chief was formally released from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody.
According to PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, an intensive care unit (ICU) has been set up at the former Prime Minister's house at Jati Umra in Lahore.
"Due to the medical risks, doctors had recommended setting up a special medical unit in Sharif's house. Under the supervision of Adnan Khan, Sharif's personal physician, an ICU has been set up at his residence. A doctor will be available 24 hours at the ICU", Dawn reported.
Stating that ventilator and cardiac facilities have also been provided at the ICU, the PML(N) spokesman expressed fear that Sharif might get infected due to his low platelet count.
On November 4, the Lahore High Court had granted bail to Maryam Nawaz who had been arrested on August 8 in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
The PML-N leader had been ordered to furnish two surety bonds, each worth Rs 10 million, deposit an additional Rs 70 million and surrender her passport.IANS
