Businessman arrested for raping woman on pretext of marriage

Gurugram police have arrested a businessman accused of raping an HR official of a private company on the pretext of marriage, the police said on Thursday.
The 23-year old victim met the accused named Kasim Malik over Facebook in 2017. He introduced himself as a scrap businessman having offices in NCR including in Gurugram. The accused invited her to meet in Sahibabad and took her to a flat where he established sexual relationship with her.
"Kasim had informed her that he is an unmarried person and will soon marry her. On the promise of marriage, he established sexual relationships with her a number of times. He also kept delaying the marriage every time she asked for it," said Subhash Bokan, PRO of Gurugram police.
The victim was miffed with his continuous refusal of marriage. Hence, she decided to investigate Kasim's real status. She leant that Kasim was married and has even a couple of kids.
"The victim finally approached sector 37 police station and registered an FIR on Wednesday. She underwent medical examination where doctors have confirmed rape. We arrested the accused on Thursday and produced him in Gurugram court which sent him to 14 days judicial custody," Bokan added. IANS
