22-October-2019
Real estate services and investment firm CBRE South Asia on Tuesday announced the launch of CBRE Cares, a foundation for corporate social responsibility (CSR).
CBRE will partner with a charitable organisation to achieve the objectives of CBRE Cares. Through the foundation, the company pledged to address the health and nutrition-related concerns of migrant labourer and their families -- women and children -- in the country, it said in a statement.
The foundation would initially have a corpus of Rs 5 crore, said Anshuman Magazine, CBRE Chairman and CEO, India, South East Asia, Middle East and Africa.
Issues faced by migrant workers included neglect, unsafe environment, malnutrition, instability, school drop-out, lack of access to quality healthcare and lack of hope for a different or better life, the company said.
"The first edition of CBRE Cares, is a small beginning towards transforming lives of those with the greatest needs. As part of the initiative, we will visit slums around the construction sites and offer health and nutrition services to migrant workers and their families. We will bring together social workers, doctors and counsellors to ensure health and well-being of children, adolescents and women living in and around these sites," the statement said.IANS
