IIG exhibits $8.2 bn projects in waste water sector

 With the waste water treatment sector expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.3 per cent, the India Investment Grid (IIG) has showcased $8.2 billion investment opportunities in the sector.

The sector is expected to grow to $6.78 billion by 2020, up from $3.3 billion in 2015.

The IIG, an initiative of the Department of Policy & Promotion, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and Invest India, is showcasing $8.2 billion 467 projects across 174 districts. Of these, 8 are private and 459 government projects.

While 50 projects will be located in Karnataka, 48 in Chhattisgarh, 45 in UP, 38 in Bihar, 32 each in MP and Maharashtra, 24 each in Assam and Rajasthan, 22 in Tamil Nadu and 16 in Himachal Pradesh.

The major projects include $2.03 billion water supply project in Pinjal, Maharashtra, $1.42 billion storm water drain project in Karnataka, $256.57 million water supply project at Gargai in Maharashtra, $203.7 million sewerage project in Jaipur, Rajasthan, $197.36 million piped water supply project in Sundargarh, Orissa, and $120.66 million South East Guwahati water supply project.

The IIG showcases a plethora of investment opportunities across India on a single interactive platform and helps connect potential investors to projects and promoters.

The waste water sector, among the most promising sectors for investment, is the 4th largest in terms of opportunity, 3rd largest in terms of projects and also the 3rd largest in terms of geographical spread of the projects.IANS
