A 22-year-old shoe factory worker was beaten to death in Shah Ganj area here for his act of "indecent exposure" before a girl living in the neighbourhood.
A case over the incident was registered on Friday against five people, including a woman.
According to police, the man, Jeetu, died of a heart attack as mentioned in the post mortem report and he was cremated on Thursday evening.
The accused, who own a shoe factory in Tamoli Para area of Shah Ganj, are now absconding.
Shah Ganj police station inspector Jaspal Singh said no arrest has been made so far as the accused had locked their house and run away. The relatives were being questioned.
Meanwhile, two videos related to the incident, are said to have become viral.
Sources said the accused were pressing the bereaved family to 'compromise' for a few lakhs of rupees.
Earlier, his relatives and neighbours kept the body on the road to demand justice, which forced the police to resort to a baton charge.
Police said Jeetu, apparently in a drunken state, began to urinate in the open while the girl was passing by.
The girl then informed her parents who, with others in the locality, thrashed Jeetu in full public view. - IANS
