Fortis to expand Mohali hospital, build de-addiction centre

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday extended his government's full support to healthcare major Fortis to expand their existing hospital at Mohali, as well as to set up a drug and alcohol de-addiction and rehabilitation centre with an investment of over Rs 1,500 crore.
The Chief Minister's offer came at a meeting here with Fortis Chairman Ravi Rajgopal, accompanied by Fortis Healthcare Group Chief Executive Ashutosh Raghuvanshi.
Fortis officials shared with the Chief Minister their plans to invest Rs 1,500-2,000 crore over the next two years for the expansion of the Mohali hospital and set up the new centre on the five-acre piece of vacant land at the existing hospital premises .
The expanded facility, company officials said, would be in line with the state government's vision of making healthcare accessible to all.
A government spokesperson said Fortis had proposed to build a 100-bed drug and alcohol deaddiction and rehabilitation centre to support the state government's fight against drugs and efforts to treat and rehabilitate drug addicts.IANS
