Man wanted in multiple cow slaughter cases held in UP

The city police have arrested a man involved in multiple cases of cow slaughter here in Uttar Pradesh after a shootout.
The accused identified as Imran alias Jhamman, was involved in more than half a dozen criminal cases with the majority being those of cow slaughter, the police said on Monday.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh said, "During routine checking on the road connecting Kesarpur and Nankar on Sunday, two bike-borne men suddenly fled after seeing the police. The police then chased them and they started firing at us. In our retaliatory firing, Imran was nabbed but his accomplice managed to escape. One .12 bore pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from the accused."
Imran, who had sustained injuries during the shootout, was referred to a hospital in Meerut for treatment.
