BJP will form next government too: Haryana CM
21-September-2019
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday hoped that the BJP would again form the next government in the state.
"Our party is fully prepared for this great cause of democracy," Khattar tweeted hours after the Election Commission announced election to 90 seats in the state on October 21.
"Our government has acted impartially in the development and in the interest of the people of the state. We are confident that this time members of the BJP family will celebrate Diwali with firecrackers of victory," he added.
Earlier addressing the media here, Khattar expressed confidence of forming the government, saying the opposition is "divided" and his party will win over 75 of the total 90 seats.
The Chief Minister said the BJP would finalise the names of its contesting candidates before the process of nomination begins.
Khattar reiterated that the state would implement the National Register of Citizens as it is "in the interest of the nation".
Ahead of the elections announcement in New Delhi, Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi's cousin Dura Ram joined the BJP in the presence of Khattar here.
Dura Ram was the legislator from Fatehabad from 2005 to 2009 and was parliamentary secretary in the previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda government.
Senior Indian National Lok Dal leader Ram Pal Majra also joined the BJP.
In the 2014 Assembly polls, the BJP improved its 2009 tally of four to 47, followed by the INLD with 19 and the Congress came third with 15 seats.IANS
