Goa Lokayukta for probe of Madkaikar in DA case
19-September-2019
Goa Lokayukta retired Justice P.K. Misra on Thursday said, that there were "reasonable grounds" to conduct a detailed investigation in the alleged disproportionate assets of former Power Minister and BJP MLA Pandurang Madkaikar.
Madkaikar has been accused by a city lawyer Aires Rodrigues, who in a complaint to the Goa Lokayukta has alleged that the BJP MLA has built a bungalow worth Rs. 200 crore, which is disproportionate to the lawmaker's known source of income.
Madkaikar had however claimed in his affidavit filed with the anti-corruption ombudsman, that the bungalow was constructed and owned by his firm M/s Nikitasha Realtors and he, as a managing director of the company was only residing in it.
Hearing the complaint filed by Rodrigues on Thursday, Mishra however said, that "reasonable grounds exist for conducting a detailed investigation" into the matter.
The next hearing has been fixed on October 17.
The complaint against Madkaikar's alleged disproportionate assets had been earlier filed with the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in June last year.IANS
