India's domain hosting provider Net4.com suffers major outage

 In the domain hosting world dominated by the likes of GoDaddy, one India-headquartered domain hosting and application services provider www.net4.com -- used by several startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to host domains -- went down for hours on Tuesday, leaving thousands of clients in a fix.

Run by Jasjit Singh Sawhney, Chairman and MD, New Delhi-based Net4.com is into domain names, web hosting, website design, SSL certificates and e-mail registration services.

The website went down on Tuesday and clients faced troubles with domain parsing and some witnessed hosting being affected for hours.

Since the contact details were available on the portal itself, the efforts to connect with Net4.com went in vein.

Incorporated as Mangla Chemicals Ltd in 1985, it was renamed as Net 4 India Ltd in 2001 and finally Net4 in 2011.

According to Net4's LinkedIn profile, the company focuses on providing services to businesses (small, medium and large) and its offerings include data centre and Cloud hosting solutions, enterprise Internet services, VoIP solutions, enterprise messaging and hosting solutions and domain name registration.

Net4 has offices in 11 major business cities and runs seven data centres and 15 network points of presence across the country.

"We serve over 400,000 SME customers for our wide range of web services, over 3500 medium to large businesses for enterprise services and 6,000 resellers across segments," said its LinkedIn page
