Cement trader commits suicide in Jharkhand
08-September-2019
A cement trader, identified as Vinod Singh, allegedly committed suicide in the Koderma district of Jharkhand on Sunday, reportedly due to financial stress.
According to the police, Singh's body was found hanging with a ceiling fan at his rented house in Mahatma Gandhi Nagar. He was alone in the house as his wife had gone to Bengaluru to meet their daughter.
The incident was reported to the police by his landlord Ramanuj Pandey, who saw from the window his body hanging from the ceiling fan. The body has been sent for post-mortem. No suicide note has been found.
However, Singh's elder brother Vijay Singh said he was under tremendous pressure due to financial stress as his business was not picking up. The company he was dealing with had stopped giving him cement due to which he was under stress, said his brother.
"The economic slowdown might have prompted him to commit suicide," Vijay said.
