Anna Hazare plans fresh agitation against corruption
29-January-2015
Veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare might launch another anti-corruption agitation against the central government, he told reporters here Thursday.
He plans to launch another movement demanding implementation of the Lokpal Act and seek recovery of the black money of Indians stashed in foreign banks.
"During the Lok Sabha elections, people were promised that the black money would be brought back within 100 days of the BJP coming to power, and Rs.1.50 million would be deposited in the accounts of each citizen. So far, not even Rs.15 has come," Hazare told mediapersons late Wednesday.
However, the 77-year old leader has not yet disclosed any timeframe for his proposed agitation, though he has hinted it would start after about six months.
Unfazed by his closest colleagues like Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal not being with him, Hazare said he would not discuss politics of any kind.
"I am not concerned. It was a peoples' movement to eradicate corruption...this is the need of the hour. Individuals may come and go, but the people and issues remain, and the movement will not be stopped," Hazare said.
Hazare said he has written three letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Lokpal and Lok Ayukta issues, but received only one acknowledgement.
He said the Lokpal Act launguishes without implementation a year after the President signed it and the new government was reneging on its own promises in this regard. - IANS
