Court rejects plea on cancelling bail of ex-SC staffer
06-September-2019
A Delhi court on Friday dismissed a plea filed by the Delhi Police seeking cancellation of bail granted to a former Supreme Court staffer who had levelled sexual harassment allegations against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Manish Khurana dismissed the plea after the accused's counsel told the court that a notice could not be served to the complainant even after various attempts.
The court observed that "no fruitful purpose will be served by keeping the bail cancellation application pending" and hence, it dismissed the plea.
The complainant in his complaint had said that the accused had promised him a job in the apex court in exchange of a consideration which he had accepted and paid Rs 50,000 to her as advance.
He further alleged that later the staffer asked him not to meet her else she would implicate him in a false case.
The case was being probed by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police who recently received a letter from the complainant alleging that he is being threatened by the accused.IANS
