A 24-year-old student of the School of Architecture and Planning (SPA) committed suicide by inhaling gas from a cylinder here, police said on Monday.
Priyali Dey, who belonged to Silchar in Assam, left a suicide note in which she talked about mental pressure, police officer L.D. Mishra said.
The incident took place on Saturday when Dey was in her room. When her friends knocked on the door, nobody answered so they broke open the door and found her lying in an unconscious state in the kitchen with the gas pipe of the cylinder in her mouth.
She was rushed to the hospital where she died during treatment.
Police investigation revealed that Dey had ordered online a small Argan gas cylinder - used for welding - on August 23. She even bought a pipe and nozzle for it from the market.
After the post-mortem, police sent the body to her brother's house. IANS
