26-August-2019
The Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police on Monday arrested the top Indian functionary of terror outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Bihar's Gaya district, an officer said.
According to the officer, the accused was in constant touch with JMB leader Kausar, one of the key accused in the 2014 blast case in Khagragarh in West Bengal's Burdwan district, and another militant named Salauddin Salahein.
"Ejaz Ahmad, aged around 30, was arrested from a village named Pathantoli in Bihar's Buniyadpur on Monday morning. Ahmad, who is originally a resident of West Bengal's Birbhum district, is the top most Indian functionary and main recruiter of the organisation (JMB) in the country," the officer said.
He added that the arrested person, who is wanted in many JMB cases, had joined the outfit in 2008. Ahmad and his family were living in a rented accommodation in Bihar. IANS
