20-August-2019
The Delhi Police claimed to have arrested five persons with illegal weapons in the northwest area on Tuesday and averted a major crime.
They were identified as Rishi (27), Harish (25), Monu (24), Rahul Sharma (34) and Karan (21); and two pistols, three bullets, a flick knife, two daggers and 26 wooden sticks were recovered from them.
Working on a tip-off that some armed miscreants were roaming the North West district to commit a crime, the police prepared a plan to arrest them, said DCP (Northwewst) Vijayanta Arya.
"We spotted around 8-10 armed people moving towards the Karnal Bypass in two Maruti EECO cars. We chased them and intercepted the cars near Jahangir Puri," said Arya.
Seeing the police, they tried to flee but five of them were apprehended, Arya said and added three separate cases under the Arms Act had been filed. IANS
