Delhi Police has arrested six persons for vandalising two Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) ambulances in Burari.
The police said all the six are CATS staffers or former staffers.
According to Additional DCP (North) Harendra Kumar Singh, the accused were identified as Sanjay (37), Vishal (24), Amit (32), Govind Kashyap, Ajay Kumar and Neeraj. After interrogation, they were produced in court and were later sent to Tihar Jail for 14 days.
"During interrogation the accused said they were part of striking protesters and wanted to sabotage the CATS vehicles. On Saturday, four CATS ambulances had reported from Usmanpur at the transport office, Burari for fitness certificates," said Singh.
After the fitness test, two CATS ambulances came to the petrol pump in front of Burari transport office for fuel. After getting the fuel, the drivers of CATS ambulances got busy in payment by cards.
In the meantime, six persons arrived with their faces covered and started quarrelling with the drivers and then smashed the windscreens. Subsequently a case was registered for damaging public property, said Singh. IANS
