Indian university confers award to Latvian dignitary

 A university devoted to spiritual affairs and based here has conferred an award of excellence to an academic dignitary in Latvia.

The Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalya, Haridwar, presented the award to Marcis Auzins, Former Rector, University of Latvia, a statement from the university here said.

The Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya holds a strong bond with Baltic nations namely Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

It is the only University in Asia to establish the first ever International Centre for Baltic Culture and Studies, the statement said.

The award presentation comes ahead of Indian Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu's visit to the Baltic countries, including Latvia. IANS
