A woman and her two children were burnt to death after a fire broke out at their residence in West Bengal's Alipurduar district, police said on Tuesday.
"Gita Burman, 35, her daughter (10) and son (2) died due to a fire at their house late on Monday. Her husband came out trying to control the fire, while the woman went back to get her children but couldn't escape," a police officer said.
There was a power failure due to incessant rain and the household used lanterns so there could be an accident which led to the fire. However, the cause of fire is still unknown and the forensic team's report is awaited, he added. IANS
