Goyal, Bangladesh Railway Minister agree on more cooperation

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday met his Bangladesh counterpart M. Nurul Islam Sujan ahead of the upcoming visit to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India and said that the two governments will work closely in the railway sector.
After the meeting, Goyal tweeted: "Had a detailed meeting with His Excellency Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Railway Minister of Bangladesh. India and Bangladesh will work closely together through increased frequency of Maitree and Bandhan express trains and cooperation in training, workshop modernisation and supply of locomotives."
The two leaders met at the Rail Bhawan on Tuesday afternoon.
A senior railway ministry official told IANS that the government is working on the plan to increase the trips of the Maitree and the Bandhan Express during the visit of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in October this year.
The official said that the Maitree Express which runs between Kolkata and Dhaka thrice a week is planned to now run six days in a week while the Bandhan Express which runs connects Kolkata and Khulna once every week will be made to run thrice a week. IANS
